Free School Meals

All children in Year R, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school lunches (known as universal free school lunches). Parents do not need to apply for these.

Universal free school lunches stop at the end of Year 2, so please be aware that, if your child has school lunches from Year 3 onwards (and you are not entitled to Pupil Premium funding) you will need to pay for these.

However, please read below about Pupil Premium funding entitlement.

If you receive any of the benefits listed in the criteria in the link below, your child will be entitled to Free School Meals in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6.

You must apply for the Free School Meals and there is a link below for this.

However, in addition to the Free School Meal the school will receive Pupil Premium funding annually for every child who qualifies for Free School Meals. The school can use this funding to provide extra support for that child's learning or other provisions as appropriate.  The school will receive this for children from Year R on wards so it is worth applying for Free School Meals in Year R, Year 1 and Year 2 even though they will receive their lunch for free. This can make a significant difference to the child's progress.

To read how the school spends this funding see the section on Pupil Premium in the Key Information Section.
